Focus Hub Photography Courses offers you professional photography courses with certificates in a range of specialist courses aimed at postgraduates, semi-professional photographers and persons wanting to start a career in photography.

From producing hi-end imagery (learning the same procedures as photographers currently shooting for international glossy magazines and fashion campaigns); to learning different lighting equipment; to processing and retouching files; through to advice on marketing yourself.

The main tutor is Robert Allen, a London photographer who works in London, Paris and New York, shooting editorials, fashion and beauty campaigns and portraiture. His clients include British Vogue, i-D, Surface, Citizen K, Interview, Fred Perry and Gap, amongst many others. He was also a judge in the 2005 Association of Photographers Annual Open Awards. robertallenphotographer.com

After 15 years in the industry, Robert felt that the time was right to help others gain insight into a variety of photography careers. These photography courses have been tailored to help you realise your photography dreams with an emphasis on quality as well as exposure to realistic scenarios with full professional photographic teams (model, clothes stylist, hair & makeup artists) and designed to give you additional industry knowledge; such as teaching you how to put a portfolio together, how to hire models and find shooting venues.

If you have a particular enquiry, please contact us via the form below or email us directly at info@focushubcourses.com. Alternatively, you can give us a call on +44 (0) 7768 857 963 to discuss your requirements.

1. Learn from a working professional
The founder and main tutor of Focus Hub, Robert Allen, is a working photographer with 15 years experience to date, who can impart relevant, useful industry knowledge.

2. Certificates and References
At the end of each 1 or 2-day course you will receive a certificate of completion; and at the end of the longer-termed courses you will receive a certificate and a reference with a complete assessment of your performance and levels achieved throughout the course.

3. Access to professional equipment
We provide the necessary equipment so that the level you are working at is consistent with a professional standard and you will be taught the same procedures as used by professionals today. These are the types of industry brands we use: Hasselblad, Phase One, Leaf, Canon, Broncolor, Profoto and Elinchrom.

4. Access to a professional team
Our models are from London’s best agencies, and the stylist and hair & makeup teams will be from agencies of an equal level. You will be taught how to work collaboratively and how to manage and direct the teams.

5. Ease of studying
From studio-based 1 and 2-day courses, to a 6-month fully online course, you choose how you want to study, when you want to study.

6. Marketing advice
Even the most talented photographers can fail if they do not know how to properly market themselves. Focus Hub will teach you how to prepare a portfolio and find clients, providing solid advice that will help you establish yourself as a working photographer.

7. Professional results
With this level of equipment and team, you will be getting professional looking results and we will supply you with a cd of your hi-res files of the images you take, which can be used in a portfolio to get yourself started in the photography career of your choice.

8. Ongoing mentoring
Mentoring is a great way to subsequently develop your techniques if you have taken a course with us. You will be personally mentored by Robert and these courses can be tailored to specifically develop your techniques and help you reach your goals. Even if you haven’t taken a course, this is a great way of having dedicated access to a professional who can guide you and develop you at your own pace. This may be particularly attractive to international customers, as two of the courses on offer are via email.

1. What is the application process?
The course dates (plus a ‘book by’ date and the number of places left) can be found in each course section. If you need further clarification, just send us a quick email to confirm that there are spaces available. Sometimes there are spaces left even after the ‘book by’ date, so it’s always worth asking. Just state on the email that you would like to book – it’s that easy!

2. How do I pay?
After emailing to book a place, we will send you an invoice and payment details to guarantee your booking.

3. Do you offer payment plans?
Due to the sizes of teams involved, we are unable to offer payment plans for any 1 or 2-day courses. For longer courses, please email us to discuss options.

4. Can I use my pictures from your courses commercially?
The copyright for hi-res pictures that you take belongs to Focus Hub and we license them to you indefinitely to use in your portfolio (printed or on online) and for any personal promotional material. Please email us if you would like to use them for magazine editorials or sell to anyone else and we can look into costs for you.

5. What are your cancellation policies?
Due to the sizes of teams involved in each of the main courses, customers need to give 2 weeks notice if they cannot attend, for a full refund. If you are ill, your place will be saved for the next month’s course.

If we do not reach our minimum amount of bookings and cannot run a course, you can choose to either be put on the next month’s course or receive a full refund.

6. Do you provide accommodation for international customers?
We can advise on hotels and we are currently developing ‘International Packs’ to provide dedicated travel advice and extra activities (visits to model agencies, exhibitions, etc.) to make your stay as easy and fashionable as possible. Email us for further details.
